Races

Road running races are a year-round staple of Ampthill and Flitwick Flyers running club, with members competing at all distances, including 5K, 5M, 10K, 10M, Half Marathon, 20M and Marathon, at various local and countywide events.

Many members regularly run road races. Particularly popular are the London Marathon and the Great North Run in Newcastle along with more local events such as the Bedford Half Marathon or Leighton Buzzard 10K. The race times achieved in all races are recorded on the Race Results page of the Members Area of the website on an ongoing basis. Each member’s individual times are also recorded on their own Runners Page.

The Club publishes an annual fixture list of local races that are within easy travelling distance. If you have details of any other local races that are not included, please send details to chairman@affrunning club.org.uk for inclusion. Please see each race website for details of how to enter.

The club receives one place (currently) for the London marathon. This is given to a club member via a ballot conducted in October each year.

In addition to road running, the Club has, for a number of years, competed in a cross-country league every winter. To find out more click here.
